I love upcycling/repurposing for a few reasons. One, it saves money. Two, it saves more stuff from heading into landfills. And three? It’s a fun challenge! If you’ve ever wondered what to do with your old, stretchy knit tees, this Baby Tights tutorial from Made by Rae is for you! Especially if you have a baby or small child. Of course, you can buy new material to make the tights, but I challenge you to dig through your older shirts – ones that are headed into the garbage or to Goodwill – and see what you can create!!
Supplies:
- 18″ square of stretchy knit fabric (upcycled t-shirt or new fabric) for infant sized tights, more for a larger child.
- an existing pair of tights for tracing a patter, or the free printable pattern.
- 3/4″ elastic cut 1/2″ larger than your baby’s waist
- the usual sewing supplies
Skill level:
Beginner.
