Once you’ve learned how to sew a straight line you can sew a simple skirt. This quick tutorial will take you step by step through the skirt making process. The french seam eliminates the need for finishing any raw edges and is the perfect first garment project! If you’re teaching your daughter or granddaughter to sew this is the place to start!
Supplies:
- Fabric- The width of the bolt is perfect for most sizes of girls. Determine your desired length and add 2 3/4″ to determine how much fabric to cut. It is easiest to cut with a rotary cutter.
- Non-roll elastic the length of the waist measurement.
- Thread, safety pin, straight pins
Add a little lace at the bottom for extra flare! This skirt was sewn by my 7 year old daughter.
