Sew & Tell: Lovely Rita Skinnies

February 4, 2014 by Heather Damron

Today’s Sew & Tell is from the lovely Rebecca of Rock the Stitch! She’s sewn a pair of Lovely Ritas in an absolutely gorgeous floral fabric. You can find the Lovely Rita pattern by Shwin Designs over at the shop…and you can find out more about Rebecca’s version by reading on!

lovely ritas

Hello everyone! I am Rebecca from the blog Rock the Stitch.
I’d like to share with you my Lovely Rita Skinnies. The pattern is from Shwinn Designs. It was an easy choice for me. I adore the modern look of Shwinn Designs’ patterns. And, well, my girly needed some pants. Done!
These pants feature of fun faux button tab on the legs. The button tab is optional, but it really gives these pants a unique look.  It was very easy to apply too.
I made the Skinnies from a stretch denim that I picked up at Jo-Ann Fabric. I used a pink stretch denim, also from  Jo-Anns, for the front pocket inside and button tab underside. You can only see just the edges of the pink peeking through but it is a nice contrast detail.
Purple thread with strong pink undertones adds some lovely contrast topstitching!
I chose to make a size 6 based on my daughter’s current size and the fit is great. The Ritas are nice and thin through the leg but still have enough room to move around freely.
The pattern was very easy to follow and I enjoyed making them very much. I read through the instructions once and went to town; only having to come back to triple check my seam allowances.
Furthermore, these pants have had a ton of compliments; both from other people and my girl. So I would say that is in all around win-win!
The Lovely Rita Skinnies are a great pattern for sewists of all levels. Thank you so much for letting me share today!
