Today’s Sew & Tell is courtesy o f Michelle of Falafel and the Bee! She sewed up a wonderful pair of Skinny Jeans – the pattern is available over at the shop!
I was so happy when Andrea told me that the pattern I was able to write about was the Skinny jeans! This pattern was simple to cut out and tape together, and the instructions were well-written and very easy to follow.
I made this pair with a dark gray denim that has a slight stretch from my local fabric store (the label said “Italian” which made me want to try it out).
My favorite part of this pattern is the details. The tiny “watch” pocket in the front was a nice surprise.
I must tell you, though, I am really terrible about reading a pattern through before I begin, so I didn’t realize there was a faux fly instead of a zip (until I got to the part that I was supposed to put the zip in-ha!). It has all the components so you don’t even miss having a zip. It even fooled my daughter when she put them on.
The fit was good, but I did have to take in the legs of the jeans quite a bit for my skinny little girl. The pattern allows you that flexibility, which is great for all the different body types out there.
I took my time with all the double stitching. Even with that, I would consider this a quick sew that leaves you with a professional looking garment in the end. When she wore them out, no one would have guessed that I made them!
These will become a staple, I am sure, in my youngest daughter’s wardrobe.
Thanks, Andrea, for having me!
