I'm looking forward to trying as I have never sewn with the two needles. It looks so neat and polished! A question is, if I use cardboard to make sure the hem is even and straight, would it be a good idea to also use this cardboard to make a line on the RS with water soluble ink to use as a sewing line. I have MS and no longer have good feeling in my hand and fingers. Thanks for the great tut and photos. Very helpful!

What width double needle are you using? And what fabric are you working with (is it very lightweight)? You could try a stabiliser (interfacing) in the seams.

Hi, I have worked at exhaustion trying to get my bobbin thread to zig zag underneath and not be nearly straight. Although I have tested increasing the tension and stitch length to fix the problem, it just doesn't seem to work. I always end up with seams that burst upon first wear. Grrrrrr. Any suggestions?

I notice in the picture showing the two spools of thread that they are running in opposite directions. Since you don't mention it in the written part, I'm wondering if this something you are supposed to do, or does it matter?

Kirsten, I have read that fusible webbing in your hem can help reduce tunneling. Hope that helps!

Well, mine loves to make a "tunnel", but the needle thread shows so much, that the bobbin thread is basically a straight line. :( what now? Any tips? Thanks for a great post!

macinic's suggestion of making sure you're using a ballpoint or stretch needle would also be my first suggestion. It could also be that the needles aren't big enough. You may need to see if you can get a double needle with size 90/14 needles in it.

Thanks for such a lovely picture based tutorial!!
I also have embraced the wooly nylon bobbin when twin needling as my tension settings are a bit (ahem) dodgy on my machine ;0
Lindsay - sometimes that happens with me if I've forgotten to use a ballpoint or stretch twin needle on a knit & have my universal in - not sure if it has anything to do with your skipping though.
