Featured: Girls Nightie from Old Tee Tutorial

September 8, 2013 by Heather Damron

I’ve seen quite a few tutorials via Pinterest for ways to repurpose old, well loved, sentimental tee shirts and this one, from Roonie Ranching, is my favorite! Check out the tutorial which shows you, step-by-step, how to draft your own nightgown pattern.

tee nightgown

Supplies

  • Old t-shirt, adult size medium or larger — preferably an awesome one
  •  Coordinating t-shirt, any size (or some knit material in a similar weight)  You can get crazy and use separate colors for the ruffles and binding strip for the neckline if you want, so in that case you will need two coordinating t-shirts.
  •  Coordinating thread to both t-shirts
  • Freezer paper (or regular paper taped together to make one piece at least 20” tall and 8” wide) for drafting the pattern pieces
  •  Ball point sewing machine needle (for sewing with knits)

Skill level

Advanced beginner.

See the full Girls Nightie from Old Tee tutorial here!

Do you have an old favorite tee you’d love to make into this nightgown?

Enjoy the tutorial? We encourage you to pin from the original source.
