Featured: Poppy Dress Tutorial

June 25, 2013 by Heather Damron

I adore orange and I also adore this super sweet Poppy Dress from A Lemon Squeezy Home!  The vibrant colors are so perfect for summer – or you could even take it into autumn with a cardigan. Love it!

poppy dress

Supplies:

  • fabric (how much depends on your measurements you’ll get below) **Please note: thicker fabrics and doubled layers tend to shirr a lot less, so the thinner your fabric, the better it will shirr**
  • orange thread
  • thread matching fabric
  • elastic thread
  • marking tool, optional
  • felt (or other fabric—You will want to pre-wash your felt and see how it reacts to washing, and also any shrinkage that may occur.  Hers was just the cheap stuff from Walmart)
  • lighter
  • tweezers
  • fusible interfacing (she didn’t use any, but it might be good to back the sewn-on poppies)

Skill level:

Advanced beginner.

See the full Poppy Dress tutorial here.

Do you love the orange poppies or would you use another color flower on this dress?

Enjoy the tutorial? We encourage you to pin from the original source.
